Consecutive serial numbers are: 10085 and 10087. The amp was never modified or have any parts changed, untouched internals This 1997 reissues were actually assembled by Vac in the US with all parts being sourced from the original 1960s providers: these reissues really were 100% replicas with no short-cuts toward cost cutting.

Aluminium anodizing, knobs and switches, point-to-point wiring, custom caps, resistors, tubes and even the TA-3 output transformer all were rebuilt to original specs by the original 1960s suppliers. Only 500 pair of this Marantz 9 have been made and about half of them were sent in Japan. I bought the Marantz 9 some years ago from the original owner, an old gentleman who had a huge audio collection. According to him, he didn't use them more than 700 hours so the match set of original Marantz labeled EL34 as well as the quad of E88CC and the pair of 6CG7 are still like new condition. If you look carefully at picture #10, you will notice that the center guide of one EL34 is broken which of course, doesnt affect the sound of the tube. This tube has been sent like this by Marantz. About these tubes, Marantz acquired a military-spec NOS stock; all tubes were carefully tested/matched and finally tagged with a discrete Marantz logo. When I bought the Marantz 9, I replaced all tubes by my favorite EL34 tube which means 8 NOS/NIB Mullard XF2 (I will include a NOS/NIB spare Mullard XF2 EL34 - see picture #11), a quad of NOS/NIB Valvo E88CC from the sixties and a pair of NOS/NIB RCA 6CG7 Black Plate. All tube have been tested/matched on a Digital Amplitrex AT-1000 tube tester prior to install them in both units.

The Marantz 9 was plugged on my Audio Research REF 3 which is possible to see tube hours and all tubes have now 1525 hours used on them which means that they are still good for a long long time. Also, if you look carefully at picture #8, you will notice that there are a pair of Siemens E88CC (one tube on each unit) and a pair of famous 6N23P Reflector 1975 SWGP Silver Shields (one tube on each unit) that I will let to the next lucky owner.

Both pair are NOS and have about 5 hours used on them. There are a lot of positive reviews and information about this legendary Marantz model 9 on internet. Of course, it sounds absolutely AMAZING!!! Both units are in a rare like new condition (9.7/10 cosmetic). They are a pure GEM!!! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate.
