Turned out to be an R-30. If you don't look closely the.

Can look like a 5. The R-30S is an interesting chassis from 1959. It has a mono tuner, a stereo preamp and a single channel EL84 output. It was intended to be paired with a 30-A monoblock housed in a separate 560'Stereo Companion' speaker enclosure. I have one in a'59 Contemporary II console with the 560 both in my living room. I think it's a great system as long as you don't mind your FM mono.

It doesn't have a magnetic phono input and will need a separate preamp unless you use a high output (ceramic) cartridge. The advantage of that is that you can use the phono input as an aux input - there is no EQ.

The R-30-S was the 1959 chassis for the C-810 contemporary. The only real difference is the MPX jack and the additional preamp output for a "B" CHANNEL.

The 560 companion (with the 30A amp) would connect to it and you'd get stereo from the Record Changer. Also with the addition of an external MPX unit you could wire it up for FM stereo.

You'd wire in the MPX to the AUX RCA's and get MPX stereo. It's not as simple as all that but it can be done. Otherwise the R-30-S and the R20 are basically the same. FISHER gave you all kinds of options during the late 50's into the early 60's as Mono changed over to Stereo. Manual is at the FISHERCONSOLES site.
