HI-END LATE-1950s MSS TUBE AMP. & 50W [2 x EL34] MONOBLOCK STUDIO MONITOR AMPLIFIER. HADDON TRANSFORMER (AS IN VOX AC50). Please see large photos showing actual items for sale.
APPROX WEIGHT OF ITEMS: 25.5Kg. Very rare MSS 1950s tube tube pre-amp & 50W monoblock amplifier. Consists of two rack mounted units. With multi-pin interconnect cable and bulgin power cable.
Superb vintage hammered-enamel effect paint. 50w monoblock power monitor amplifier with rare Haddon 50w output transformer, (also used in the Vox AC50 amp). Preamp contains two fine-looking input transformers, at least one of which must be for the gramophone (labelled "pick-up") input.
This set-up was originally used to cut and monitor vinyl masters, so could hardly be more high-end. Also contains several vintage audio valves, including an excellent-testing vintage British Mullard GZ33 rectifier tube. Valves have all been AVO-tested with good to excellent results.
One of the EL34 shown in photos was found to be faulty and has been replaced with a good testing EL34. Main inputs and outputs, (and Haddon transformer inputs) tested with ohm-meter and none are showing as open-circuit. Amplifier partly tested - it was powered up slowly with a variac, gradually increasing the voltage over two hours. But by 200 volts it was emitting a loud hum from the speaker output and due to my lack of tech skills, it was switched off and not tested further. Valve/tube amplifiers can contain potentially-fatal high voltages, even when switched off!
