McIntosh A116 Tube (Valve) Monoblock Power amplifiers (Pair) Rare Serviced 1950s

McIntosh A116 Monoblock Power amplifiers (Pair) Rare Serviced. These 30W Tube monoblocks were only manufactured from 1953 - 1954 so you can only imagine how rare these are and these are close serial numbers as well.

As these are from the days of mono a pair would be very rare indeed. This particular pair are in good general cosmetic condition showing signs of their age for sure but somehow it would be a shame to renovate them cosmetically but thats just my opinion, they have been sympathetically given a general service/ overhaul with all solder joints desoldered and resoldered, that has improved their future reliability without a blanket rebuild.

This work was carried out by a first class technician who only works on Tube/ Valve equipment. These units are 120 v units. They are in ready to use condition. The stencilling is still quite readable and thats why Ive been reluctant to give them a deep clean. The output transformers are quite some size , like nothing Ive seen before on a 30W amplifier.

The rectification is tube / valve. These were the forerunner to the MC30 and of course much rarer. The tubes they use are common small signal types and the output tubes are a variety of 6L6 that has a top cap.
