Be the first in your neighborhood to own a pair of 250 watt Altec Lansing power amps. These are both model A-287W (specs shown on last image) and have been kept in dry storage for the last 20+ years. Though dusty, all transformers and interconnections are present.
Output tubes are #805 triodes in push-pull operating at 1,500V plate voltage. Unit #1 has both output tubes as well as its 866A mercury vapor rectifiers. Unit #2 has only one 805, but replacements are readily available. Similar to conventional mono blocks, these do require pre-amplification on the order of 15W for full power output. Physical condition is quite good; I've dusted things off but didn't want to go overboard as historical preservation is important and whoever buys them will want to give them the attention they deserve. Included in this listing is a pair of safety doors/covers as shown, HOWEVER, I don't think these fit the A-287W as they have latch receivers on -both- sides and the cutout is the wrong orientation, though I think they are Altec Lansing produced and are roughly the same dimensions. Either way, consider those a toss-in or for possible modification. This is some serious iron, each chassis weighing in at 141 pounds. For more about one heck of a stereo setup using 287W's, see "Waking the Gentle Giant" in Vacuum Tube Valley magazine issue #9.
